All of us are familiar with the ballerinas of Edgar Degas, but Degas himself was a huge fan of horse racing. Race horses and jockeys, even more than dancers, occupied Degas’ artistic focus throughout his long career. He produced ninety-one works in this category, not including equestrian waxes and bronzes.
