Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, of which Cezanne is one, loved to paint paintings in series. What you see now is one of five works depicting card players. It is not as famous as other Cezanne paintings. Most people associate the artist with a series of Sainte-Victoire mountain or still lifes with fruits; however, one version of The Card Players was sold in 2011 for $250 million to $300 million, making it one the most expensive works of art ever sold so far.
