Ancient of Days is the title of a design by William Blake, originally published as the frontispiece to a 1794 work, “Europe a Prophecy.” William Blake was an English poet, painter, and printmaker and one of the greatest figures of Romanticism. He was also considered mad by contemporaries. He created a complex mythology, where Urizen, depicted here, is the embodiment of conventional reason and law.
