As a child, Ooloosie Saila was inspired to draw during occasional visits to the home of Kenojuak Ashevak, one of Canada’s best know Inuit artists. She began developing her skill at the age of 14 and started drawing professionally in 2015. Since then, her work has been exhibited extensively in Canada and the United States. Saila's work explores a number of themes but she is best known for boldly colorful representations of her local landscape. Her work continues to evolve stylistically but remains unique and inimitable.

We present this piece thanks to the West Baffin Eskimo Cooperative (WBEC). The role of WBEC has significantly expanded to include communications, promotion, advocacy, government relations, and special projects as related to the Inuit art of Cape Dorset. As a community owned organization, 90% of Cape Dorset adults are shareholders; profits are distributed back to the community in the form of annual dividends.

P.S. Here's more interesting native American art to see. <3
