Today we present the works of a woman artist that I've never heard of before. And guess what—it is impossible to find anything about her and this piece on the internet in English and nearly impossible to do so in Portuguese. What a shame! : (
What I could find about her is that she was a Brazilian painter. She studied painting in Paris. She participated in the first and second editions of the Brazilian Exhibition of Fine Arts, in São Paulo, in 1911 and 1912. With the beginning of the First World War, she returned to Brazil, exhibiting her works in Rio de Janeiro. She was successful with the painting we present today. The title suggests that it presents a sad but proud woman with a broken heart.
Beautiful, isn't it?
P.S. Broken-hearted? Sometimes art is the only solace. Stay calm, here are some artworks that might bring you some peace.
