Hello in 2022!

We hope you had a great night, last night, saying goodbye to the old year. :)

The woman depicted by the Catalan artist Ramon Casas in today's painting surely had a good time at a party!  :)

The lady is called "the young decadent," which means a lot. The Decadent movement was a late-19th-century artistic and literary movement, centered in Western Europe, that followed an aesthetic ideology of excess and artificiality. It first flourished in France and then spread throughout Europe and to the United States. The movement was characterized by self-disgust, sickness at the world, general skepticism, delight in perversion, and employment of crude humor and a belief in the superiority of human creativity over logic and the natural world.

Well, maybe this is why the woman looks a bit exhausted or even sad or melancholic. Collapsed on her divan she definitely needs a recovery—like some of us today! :) Happy 2022, everyone! Don't forget to check our artsy calendars for 2022 here, FULL of art :D
