Today we will go to Sweden!

The monumental triptych we present today depicts the family of the artist Carl Larsson during Christmas breakfast at Lilla Hyttnäs in Sundborn in 1906. It looks like an ideal, dreamy scene of a family gathering. The room is bright, almost summery even though it is the middle of winter. There are so many details! In the painting we can spot many members of Larsson's family (including his wife and eight children), their friends, and co-workers. The artist himself stands and observes, he turns his gaze outwards towards the window. His wife Karin is the one wearing a blue party dress. Behind her we see parts of the richly carved oak panel from Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany. In the panel's red niche, Carl and Karin have created an exhibition with, among other things, Sami objects.

Merry Christmas! May your world be filled with art, beauty, warmth, and good cheer this Holy season, and throughout the year!
