Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!  :) Enjoy

Today, we present a masterpiece created by the artist who painted the most famous love depiction in art history—Gustav Klimt. We are not showing The Kiss today (we have done it in the past), but a design for the famous Stoclet Palace. In this scene, which is like a mirror to The Kiss, a man in a red kimono is standing with his legs apart and back facing us, wrapping a woman in a green dress covered with flowers in an intimate embrace.

Stoclet Palace in Brussels, conceptualized and executed between 1905 and 1911 by Josef Hoffmann, stands as a quintessential example of the Vienna Secession style. Hoffmann, along with numerous contributors from the Wiener Werkstätte and related circles, embraced the concept of Gesamtkunstwerk, a comprehensive fusion of painting, sculpture, and architecture in every aspect of the building and its interiors.

Gustav Klimt was tasked with the significant undertaking of creating the dining room walls. His extensive efforts on this project culminated in nine life-sized sketches, later transformed into intricate mosaics. This work holds a special place in Klimt's oeuvre, being one of his rare monumental-scale projects. Incorporating influences from Egyptian, Byzantine, and Japanese art, it is considered a pinnacle of his creative maturity.
