Hello everyone! How's 2025 going?

With this beautiful watercolor, created around 1750 in Punjab Hills, India, we want to share with you a new energy for 2025 (the one we need to swing into this year) by embracing joy amid life’s storms.  :)

As this image may be difficult to understand for those who are not familiar with Indian culture (why is she so stubbornly waiting to get wet in the rain?), the monsoon rains in India are a celebration, signaling relief from the intense heat of the dry season. With these rains, life flourishes—and it is a beautiful reminder of renewal and resilience for us all.

Have a great second day of the New Year! If you're looking for something new to learn this year, I highly encourage you to enroll in our How to Look at Art online course. It's short and most notably, absolutely free!  :)

P.S. If you zoom in on today's artwork you'll notice the hands and feet of the lady on the swing are ... covered in henna. Yes! Here are other examples of henna in Indian art
