The Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog

This is pure Romanticism - a lonely man, standing in contemplation and self reflection, mesmerized by the haze of the fog as if it were a religious and spiritual experience. He wonders in that moment about the unforeseen future. Nothing can stop him in conquering the world - there is only a human being and the greatness of nature. The legend claims that the man is Friedrich himself although it cannot be proven.
