Water Lilies is a series of approximately 250 oil paintings by Claude Monet. The paintings depict Monet's flower garden at Giverny and were the main focus of Monet's artistic production during the last thirty years of his life. Many of the works were painted while Monet suffered from cataracts. In this painting Monet reflects the landscape around the lake, in the water. He also uses the water’s reflection to dissolve the colors even more. To create shadow effects he uses a lot of different colors (pink and purple in the clouds, red at the edges of the lake, etc.)
