Sisley was one of the creators of French Impressionism. Unlike his colleagues, the countryside in the winter particularly attracted him. He was exclusively a landscape painter. Throughout his lifetime he produced more than 900 oil paintings. Such a large oeuvre creates an ideal situation for counterfeiters who produce fake works that are passed off as works from Sisley.
