Fragonard was one of the most remarkable Rococo painters. Rococo is a style of art, especially architecture and decorative art, that originated in France in the early 18th century and is marked by elaborate ornamentation, such as a profusion of scrolls, foliage, and animal forms. As with most Rococo paintings, the subject is not very complicated. Two lovers have conspired to get the older fellow to push the lady in the swing while her lover hides in the bushes.
