Daumier is best known for his caricatures of political figures and satires on the behavior of French people. He was also a painter and, for the last part of his life he was fascinated by Spanish literary hero Don Quixote. At the time of his death, Daumier had completed 49 drawings and 29 paintings within the Don Quixote theme.
