Noa Noa is Gauguin's intimate journal of his first trip to Tahiti. The book begins in 1892, after his first year in the islands. The sketchbook contains writings, watercolors, woodcuts and was discovered years after he left the island and was intended to stand as a record of his emotions and experiences in the new world. There have been allegations by modern critics that the contents of the book were fantasized and plagiarized.
