Patroclus was Achilles best friend and companion in the Trojan war, who was killed by Hector. Patroclus was the bravest warrior of them all, and his funeral ends the Iliad. The funeral was mighty, worthy of a hero like him. Gifts, dogs and horses were put on the pyre to serve the dead hero in death. Twelve Trojan prisoners were sacrificed and put on the pyre. The bones and ashes of Patroclus were then put in a golden urn and athletic games were held.
