The Milkmaid

Today we won't share any story with you. Only couple of words, a poem by Wislawa Szymborska, a Polish poet, essayist and translator who was awarded the 1996 Nobel Prize in Literature. Treat it as a sweet little treat :)

"Vermeer"
So long as that woman from the Rijksmuseum
in painted quiet and concentration
keeps pouring milk day after day
from the pitcher to the bowl
the World hasn't earned
the world's end.

Until May 22 in Louvre you can see an exhibition full of Vermeers - "Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting". It also presents the Milkmaid :)
