I was told that today is Drink Wine Day! Well, with the whole tradition of paintings with wine drinking, we couldn't miss this day!

This is one of my two favorite paintings with wine drinking. It's not surprising that both show Bacchus, the Roman god of wine. This Bacchus is young, muscular, and handsome; he reclines in classical fashion with grapes and vine leaves in his hair, fingering the drawstring of his loosely draped robe. On a stone table in front of him is a bowl of fruit and a large carafe of red wine. He holds out a shallow goblet of the same wine, inviting the viewer to join him. Bacchus was known to be joyous and kind to those who admire him, yet cruel and mischievous to those who cross him.

Here's all you need to know about Bacchus and wine! Cheers everyone!
