In some countries, today we celebrate Mother's Day! Please take a look at this beautiful pastel of an artist's wife and their children created by one of the most talented Polish artists, Stanisław Wyspiański.  : )

Wyspiański married Teodora Teofila Pytko in 1900. The marriage proved to be a breakthrough event both in his private and artistic life and caused a huge controversy among Krakow's society because Teofila was a peasant. Anyways, Wyspiański didn't care much. He painted numerous portraits of his wife (often wearing her national costume), self-portraits with his wife, and (the best-known) portraits of his children. They are the most remarkable examples of portraits of children in the Polish school of painting. Serenity, admiration, and a kind of tenderness are all manifested in those works.

P.S. Here are ten special artworks that celebrate some of the many presentations of motherhood. All the best to all Moms!  <3
