Today I would like to present one of my favorite paintings. It's a bit ... hmmm ... dark? But, it's 2021 and pandemic is everywhere, so sorry for this mood!  :D

The painting by the Polish artist Wojciech Weiss expresses the spirit of the era of the turn of the century. In the empty interior of the cafe, saturated with the pale morning light, the artist places the foreground figures of a woman and a man with a demonic face. Weiss's painting belongs to a series of decadent depictions of life in a large metropolis, which was very popular then.

The woman cries hiding her face in her hands. On the other side of the table, we see a man dressed in black. The scene clearly can't show anything good. In front of the man is a glass with absinthe. The man, with a piercing gaze, full of cynicism and contempt, looks at his companion, clearly enjoying her humiliation.
