The art duo 72 finds it inspiration in the natural sciences and engineering. This interactive installation was inspired by the artists' interest in issues related to the symbiosis of natural and artificially created life. In a darkened room, viewers place their hands under a projector that shows images of small computer-generated life forms. These life forms exist only when projected on the viewers' skin; when we remove our hands, they die. Even a brief interaction can cause a sense of physical unity with the artificial organisms and a range of reactions to them, from surprise to tenderness, disgust and sorrow. The title of the installation refers to the concept of cycles in Buddhist philosophy. The work won a Public's Choice award at WRO 2011.

From 12 April to 13 May, every Wednesday and Sunday, DailyArt will present you with the award-winning works from the previous editions of the WRO Media Art Biennale – from the years 2011 and 2013 – in the form of pictures and links to the documentation from the WRO Active Art Archive. This presentation of media art – videos, installations, media performances – is an unprecedented event in app history. It's impossible to present these pieces through single images, so each photo is accompanied by a link containing some useful articles, sometimes with statements from the artists as well. Earphones will be useful!
