Today is the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969; Jeff Bezos is also about to go to space on his Blue Origin rocket. It looks like we have a painting that may be a good match.  : )

Lyubov Popova’s oeuvre from 1913 to 1916 is a classic example of Russian Cubo-Futurism. The child of the marriage of French Cubism and Italian Futurism on Russian soil, Cubo-Futurism nevertheless possessed its own unique national specifics. Man + Air + Space is monumental, compositionally definite, and complete. The artist is more concerned with expressing the unity of the volumetric-spatial structure than addressing the problems of movement and dynamics. All this permits Man + Air + Space to be correlated to Cubism rather than to Futurism.

We present today's painting thanks to the State Russian Museum. : )

P.S. Did you know that NASA has an art program? Here's all you need to know about it!
