You know that we love the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, right? Now in the museum (and partly online!) you can visit the Here to Stay exhibition. There aren't only van Gogh masterpieces; the museum has a vast collection of artworks created by other artists. Today, we present an illustration based on the classic Félix Vallotton’s Laziness (which we featured yesterday, check it out!) created by Amsterdam-based illustrator and painter, Floor van het Nederend. Here is what the artist says about the work:

"What I find so interesting about this woodcut by Félix Vallotton is his illustrative style and how much black he uses. It makes me think of comic books. He depicts the playful cat and the reclining woman with a few simple lines, leaving them all white so that they contrast sharply with the predominantly black background. In my own drawing I also tried to leave a lot black, using only a few white lines to depict the room, the chair, and the LP. In my drawing it is not a playful cat demanding attention from the indolent woman, but a little dog looking disapprovingly at its lazy owner."

P.S. Here's some more "remakes" of classic masterpieces—this time by our favorite Fernando Botero.
