Sunset Glow at Nakoso-Fukushima

Hasui Kawase, the author of the masterpiece we present today, was a renowned Japanese woodblock print artist, celebrated for his landscapes and cityscapes that beautifully captured Japan's changing seasons and tranquil scenes. A key figure in the shin-hanga ("new prints") movement, his work blended traditional Japanese ukiyo-e techniques with a modern sense of realism and mood, often characterized by soft, atmospheric lighting and delicate color gradations. His prints are notable for their poetic serenity, depicting quiet streets, temples, and nature with a deep sense of calm and beauty.
