Today is the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S.!

The holiday, also observed in Canada in October, centers on giving thanks for the harvest and the blessings of the past year. It is traditionally celebrated with a festive meal, often featuring turkey, shared among family and friends. With today's jolly painting, we are wishing joy, warmth, and togetherness to all who celebrate it!

At the center of the composition, the dinner guests embody the senses. Music and the singing children represent hearing, while the young woman stroking a mink evokes touch. Another woman about to eat oysters symbolizes taste, and the monkey tugging at Cupid’s hair again refers to touch.

The surrounding animals and paintings are equally significant. The Annunciation atop the harpsichord and Minerva’s Visit to Parnassus allude to hearing; The Dentist to touch; and The Punishment of the Rich Epulon together with The Wedding at Cana to taste.

Happy celebrations and don't forget to open the app tomorrow, as we will have something special for you.  :)

P.S. Read the story behind the most famous depiction of Thanksgiving in American art. Can you guess what it is?
