Margarita Theresa, daughter of King Philip IV of Spain was immortalized in paintings by Diego Velásquez on many occasions. She was the King's favourite child, so Philip commissioned several portraits of her. This one, called Infanta Margarita Theresa in a Blue Dress is one of the last paintings by Velásquez, who died a year later.
