Shoo off Birds

Today we want to present to you this beautiful masterpiece from Portugal. In this painting of naturalist rural representation, on a first plane we see a boy with a straw hat, in the middle of a wheat field, shooing the birds away by beating a stick against an old watering can hanging around his neck. On a second plane we see a countryside house and further on the background a valley with crop fields. This work is inspired by the bucolic of the rural environment from artist's childhood. Lino was a painter and sculptor who studied in the School of Fine Arts in Porto. He stands out in naturalist and historical painting, focusing also on portrait and religious themes; but we can without any doubts drink the genesis of a natural ruralism from an academy painter.
