The Favorite Cat

Yes, today is the day! Today we celebrate International Cat Day!

This beautiful and a bit chonky cat was depicted by an American lithographer, Nathaniel Currier who joined with James Merritt Ives to found the printmaking firm of Currier and Ives. They are best known as creators of popular art prints, such as Christmas scenes, landscapes, or depictions of Victorian urban and natural sophistication.  Animals, and especially cats, became subjects of their prints and decorated many American homes. Over the decades, the firm created roughly 7,500 images but as you may realize, I think today's The Favorite Cat is the best one ever made.

Please pet your cats today for us ... and give them an extra taste of tuna!  :)
