Marià Pidelaserra was a Catalan painter who deserves more recognition. Following a stay in Paris, he learned the lesson of Impressionism from the point of view of subject matter and technique. He also exhibited some landscapes he had painted in France, which critics and the public in Barcelona in 1902 coldly received. After returning to Spain, Pidelaserra painted a series of landscapes like this one, created in Montseny, a mountain range west of the coastal hills north of Barcelona. They are painted in a very personal language in which he combines almost pointillist brushstrokes with a curved, diluted treatment of the skies. Unfortunately, given these paintings' rejection, he decided to take a long break in his artistic career. What a shame!

P.S. The shimmering colors of Pidelaserra's painting look like they could be painted by Georges Seurat or other Pointillists. You can delve into some of the most amazing pointillist landscapes! Do you know them?
