Time for a bit of flowers!

Henryka Minter-Beyer received her artistic training from German artist Peter Schmidt in Szczecin and the flower painter Gottfried Wilhelm Völcker in Berlin. In 1811, she moved to Poland, settling in Warsaw, where she married Jan Bogumił Beyer, the director of the General Lottery of the Kingdom of Poland. After her husband died in 1819, Henryka turned to painting as a full-time profession, using it to support her family. Beyer became renowned for her floral still lifes, inspired by 17th-century Flemish works.

From 1821 to 1845, she regularly participated in Fine Arts Exhibitions in Warsaw, earning numerous awards and public acclaim. Her medals brought her widespread recognition. In 1824, she established the first painting school for women in Warsaw, which remained in operation until 1833. Beyer’s Biedermeier-style still lifes, often featuring bouquets adorned with butterflies or small birds, were admired for their elegant compositions, precise lines, delicate shading, and vibrant, harmonious colors. Her ability to faithfully depict nature, especially various plant species, was frequently noted, a skill honed through her botanical studies in Warsaw gardens.
