Today, we start the monthly partnership with the Rhode Island School of Design Museum in Providence, Rhode Island. It means that for the next four Sundays, we will present the masterpieces from their amazing collection. Enjoy!
Against a brilliantly colored sunset, a lone figure strolls in a park on the outskirts of Paris. Leafy patterns of gold and green fill the branches of trees whose limbs cast decorative shadows. As night descends, the sunlight softens to a rosy glow in the sky above.
The French painter Henri Rousseau was a self-trained artist who worked as a clerk in a customs office. He drew inspiration from close observation of nature in Paris’s parks and zoos. His paintings are characterized by a keen awareness of the natural world and its ability to reflect emotional states.
P.S. If Rousseau’s dreamy parks and glowing sunsets speak to you, you’ll love our Landscapes 50 Postcards Set—a collection of breathtaking vistas from different artists (including Rousseau, of course) and eras. Each is perfect for sending, collecting, or framing. :)
P.P.S. Today's painter was certainly one of a kind. Discover Henri Rousseau in 10 paintings!
