Henriëtte Geertruida Knip was a flower painter from the Northern Netherlands who was born into an artistic family—both her father and brother were painters. Henriëtte Geertruida became a successful painter and spent summers in Haarlem painting the flowers produced by the various flower companies, and she spent winters in Amsterdam teaching ladies how to paint.

As a female artist, she could support her family (her father and brother went blind) as well as herself, which might have been difficult for a woman at the beginning of the 19th century. She never married and died in Haarlem. Her work is sometimes confused with that of her niece Henriëtte Ronner-Knip, whose works generally contain animals (to be precise ... cats).

P.S. Make sure to see the kittens by Henriëtte Ronner-Knip; they are so cute!  <3
